ZF Friedrichshafen - Special Vehicle Drive Systems
ZF is the world's largest independent specialist of drive train and
chassis technology. ZF develops and produces transmissions, steering
systems, axles and chassis components as well as complete systems for

driveline solutions combining low costs and optimum flexibility for a wide
range of special and military vehicle applications, such as off-road
all-wheel drive vehicles which demand maximum technical capabilities to meet
mobility requirements.
ZF LSG 1000
ZF LSG 1000 is the powershift and steering transmission for light tracked
vehicles up to 21t with engine ratings of 310kw. By splitting the steering
and braking functions, the LSG 1000 fulfils all existing EU safety
requirements.
The LSG 1000 has six forward and up to three reverse gears, all of which
are engaged fully automatically. A particular feature, not seen in
conventional tracked-vehicle transmission systems, is the consistent
response of steering control irrespective of the direction of travel.
ZF ECOMAT
ZF-ECOMAT transmissions are tried and tested in on- and off-road
applications. They have proved their worth in many thousands of vehicles and
require only minor modifications for use in special purpose vehicles. The
transmissions are available with four to seven speeds and can be used with
engines up to a maximum torque of 2,000nm. A retarder can be integrated
without altering the installed length of the transmission to provide an
auxiliary brake.
ZF AS-TRONIC
The ZF-AS TRONIC shift systems 12 AS 2301 and 16 AS 2601 are specifically
designed for modern trucks with EDC engines and CAN communication.
The ZF-AS TRONIC product range comprises transmissions of 12 and 16 gears
up to a ratio of 17. Engine torque is between 1,900 and 2,600Nm, which
corresponds to an engine power of up to 500kw.
For heavy tractor and off-road vehicles, ZF combines the proven converter
unit WSK with the ZF-ASTRONIC transmission up to 3,000Nm. This system allows
vehicles to be driven under heavy conditions using the torque multiplication
for additional traction force. Under normal conditions, the converter clutch
is locked up which increases economic efficiency.
ZF LSG 300
ZF LSG 300 is the powershift and steering transmission for light tracked
vehicles up to 4t GVW. The LSG 300 consists of ZF four gear automatic
transmission, 4 HP 240 with hydrostatic crossdrive gear, LGH 150, and power
take of NMV. The electronic control unit is interactive to the engine
electronic system and is adapted for tracked vehicles applications.
ZF EE-DRIVE
ZF EE-Drive is the E-Drive solution for tracked and wheeled special
vehicles. The EE-Drive is a promising project of the future, an electric
drive system which can be used for wheeled and tracked vehicles. The
electric drive motors are located on the wheel hubs. They receive their
power either from a generator driven by a combustion engine, from batteries
or in the future from fuel cells. In this manner, the most varied drive
concepts – from individual suspension to rigid axle and central engines
housed in the vehicle – can be realised.
The complicated driveline concept with transfer box, locking
differentials, can be dispensed with as mechanical functions largely
replaceable by electronic software. The modular design permits interesting
lightweight solutions. In military vehicles, short-time battery operation
can be used to meet certain emission requirements.
